A walk to remember

If any knows, 'A walk to remember' is actually a movie by Mandy Moore and Shane West. Its a sad love story that has nothing to do with what I am going to write. I just like the title and decided to use it. har har har... ( cold joke)

One of the guiding principles ( yes i work too much) in our budget journey is to take avantage of the good weather whenever possible and do outdoor activities first. Obviously Amsterdam has its share of outdoor and indoor activities and since the sun is shining so brightly we decided to go to KeuKenhof Tulip Garden.

The first thing that assaulted my eyes...

Where on earth these obasan and ojisan (senior citizens) come from.... There are tons and tons of them and hardly many young people like me ( ahem ahem)

The second thing I saw is the biggest pair of clogs. What am I suppose to do but step in it and take a photo har?

But when I walk into this massive garden, there is even a bigger CLOG! It probably can fit in a Kancil! And yes I had to do the tourist thing and take a photo. Cousin Rain refuse. Complain its too tacky...

So where are the tulips? Let me tell you boys and girls, this is a solid 80 hectar land full of Tulips with 2 pair of big clogs, a big pond with some ducks, a fake windmill, all chairs sponsor by IKEA and lots of old people. Sounds unappetizing? Check these out...

At the entrance you start snapping and you walk....

You snap and you walk.....

You snap and snap and you keep walking

You snap some more and wonder is it gonna end...

You snap and start to wonder if your battery is gonna die on you soon..

What the heck.....Postcard anyone?

And after 4 hours of walking you feel like this guy

Sofa sponser by IKEA. Don't ask what happen when it rains. I have no idea either.

The overall layout of the garden is as below and I only manage to cover the upper right corner. About 25% of the overall garden...( the windmill until the big glass house in the middle).

I will need to call for an ambulance if I walk anymore. After 4 -5 hours of solid walking.. we smell..yes grill bacon. The breeze keep em' coming and in the end, you can't resist and I am never one to deny my stomach.

Its E4.00 per burger but its YUMMY..

What is the secret of this garden that come up with the most wonder designs? The answer is in the back yard. At first they nuture the tulips from the Tulip farm. Once it bloom the bulbs will be transfer to the garden into various difficult formations. The farm is huge! Rows and rows of Tulips as far as the eye can see.

A real pity I am only able to spend the afternoon there. A better way of touring this will be on the bicycle. You might just be able to cover it all. Might being the operative word.

As such, I leave the Tulip Garden with a sense of wonder and the anticipation of the next adventure..
